We’re collecting for the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal. Mrs. Glatt and Ms. West will choose books from our Scholastic Book Fair for this organization which provides a safe afterschool environment to kids in our community.
There are fabulous prizes like Wimpy Kid and Twilight books for the winning class, so check your pockets, couches, and lockers for nickels to bring in on Monday. Oh, yeah, if you forgot your pennies today, you can bring those Monday, too.
Let’s work together to provide books for kids in our community this holiday season!

On your mark, get set, GO—get your change, Chargers—it’s time for another Change WAR! This time we’re collecting for the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal. Mrs. Glatt and Ms. West will choose books from our Scholastic Book Fair for this organization which provides a safe after school environment to kids in our community. In addition, Scholastic will match whatever we raise and get books to needy children across the country. And did I mention there are prizes for the class that raises the most money? Winning class gets a set of Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and the first three Twilight books for the classroom. Plus, students in the class get a chance to win the same books. And let’s not forget the cookies and milk on the first day back from school! So be prepared to turn in pennies tomorrow, nickels on Monday, dimes on Tuesday, quarters on Wednesday and dollars plus anything left-over next Thursday. Turn in your change during the first class you attend that is not PE. Let’s get our local kids some books, Chargers!

This is a reminder to students that book checking is not acceptable in Chiddix hallways. It is disrespectful to the student and his or her materials, irresponsible because it can clog hallways and make people late, and unsafe because others might trip over the book-checking victim and his or her stuff. Staff members will be taking a closer look for book checking and red slips will be issued to those who make this poor choice.
